FanCompare evaluates creator platforms on criteria that affect take-home pay and operational risk. This page explains exactly what we test, how we verify data and how we handle conflicts of interest.

What we test

Fees

We verify fees by creating a test account on each platform and checking the stated rates against the platform’s own terms of service and help documentation. We cross-reference with at least two independent sources. We test for hidden fees: chargeback deduction policies, withdrawal fees, currency conversion charges.

Payouts

We make a small test transaction on each platform and time the payout cycle: from transaction to withdrawable balance, and from withdrawal request to funds in account. We note minimum withdrawal thresholds and available payout methods.

Content protection

We review each platform’s stated DMCA policy, test the watermarking tools and attempt a takedown request on a test piece of content to verify the process actually works.

Analytics

We evaluate the depth and usability of the creator-side analytics dashboard: earnings breakdowns, fan segmentation, content performance, subscriber churn metrics.

Support quality

We submit a test support request to each platform and measure: response time, resolution quality and whether the response was a canned reply or a tailored answer.

We check whether the platform assists creators with EU legal requirements: VAT handling, W-8BEN collection, age verification, GDPR data export.

How we handle pricing changes

Platform fees and pricing change. Every comparison page carries a “last updated” date. We review pricing every 60 days and update within 72 hours of any confirmed change. If you notice outdated figures, contact us via the site footer.

Conflicts of interest

FanCompare is independently operated. We do not accept payment for placement in comparisons or round-ups. We do not have affiliate relationships with any creator platform. Our revenue comes from advertising and sponsored content, which is clearly labelled.

Data sources

Primary: platform terms of service, help documentation, official pricing pages. Secondary: verified creator reports, third-party payment research. Not used as primary sources: Reddit, anonymous forums, unverified reviews.
